IPL Skin Rejuvenation
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin rejuvenation is a groundbreaking, non-invasive treatment designed to improve the overall quality, tone, and texture of the skin. Using broad-spectrum light, IPL effectively targets various skin concerns such as age spots, sun damage, and rosacea, as well as reducing wrinkles and fine lines. This technology stimulates collagen production, enhancing the skin’s natural healing process and resulting in a brighter, more youthful complexion. Safe and efficient, IPL rejuvenation offers a versatile solution for those seeking to restore their skin’s radiant vitality without downtime.
What are the benefits of IPL Skin Rejuvenation
- Reduction of Pigmentation: Effectively diminishes sun spots, age spots, and other forms of hyperpigmentation.
- Even Skin Tone: Helps to even out skin coloration and reduce the visibility of redness and broken capillaries.
- Collagen Stimulation: Encourages the production of collagen, which firms the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Minimal Downtime: Unlike more invasive procedures, IPL treatments require little to no downtime, allowing you to return to your daily activities immediately.

Additionally, the DPL Protégé system boasts Australian design and engineering, ensuring top-quality performance and reliability.
Common areas treated with IPL include the face, neck and chest. IPL treatments can target the hands and other parts of the body as well, reducing the appearance of sun spots and revitalizing the skin's appearance. IPL is a flexible option for treating a wide range of skin conditions across different areas of the body.
The IPL treatment process typically includes a thorough cleansing of the skin to remove any makeup, oil, or impurities, ensuring the light penetrates effectively. It's a non-invasive treatment with minimal downtime, allowing most individuals to return to their daily activities immediately after. Although a single session can produce visible changes, a series of three to five treatments is often recommended for optimal results, with occasional follow-up treatments to maintain clear and radiant skin.
Pre-Treatment Care
- Avoid Sun Exposure: For at least 2-4 weeks before your treatment, avoid sunbathing and tanning beds to minimise the risk of hyperpigmentation or complications.
- Skip Certain Skin Treatments: Avoid chemical peels, waxing, and other laser treatments on the area to be treated for at least 2 weeks before your IPL session.
Post-Treatment Care
- Expect Immediate Redness and Swelling: Some redness and swelling similar to sunburn are normal immediately after the treatment and usually subside within a few days.
- Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect the treated area from direct sun exposure by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher.
- Moisturise: Keep the skin hydrated by using a gentle moisturiser recommended by your skin therapist
- No Exfoliating: Avoid exfoliating or using products with retinoids or acids until your therapist advises that it's safe to do so, usually after a week or when the skin has fully healed.
At Project Skin, we can also utlise IPL for hair removal treatments. IPL works by emitting a broad spectrum of light, which is absorbed by the melanin (the dark pigment) in the hair. This light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicle, significantly reducing the ability of the follicle to produce hair. Over a series of treatments, IPL can effectively decrease hair growth.
